Council District 1

Rev. Dr. Glenn Green, ThD.

Rev. Dr. Glenn Green, ThD. is a multi-term city councilmember serving Westwego Council District 1. He also serves as the Assistant Mayor (Mayor Pro Tem). Councilman Green believes his greatest achievement is being saved and being a child of God. In addition to representing Council District 1, Councilman Green is a leader of and a member in numerous organizations.

He currently serves as a Senior Investigator for the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s office and as the Staff Chaplain for the City of Westwego Police Department. Councilman Green is also the current president of the Louisiana Municipal Black Caucus, an organization that he has been part of and led for a long time. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana. A 1967 graduate of Joseph S. Clark Sr. High School, Councilman Green served in the Air Force during the Vietnam era, and afterward attained several degrees: Associate in Law Enforcement and Corrections, Delgado Jr. College; Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice and Penology from St. Mary’s Dominican College; a graduate degree in Criminology from Tulane University; and both his Bachelor of Theology and Doctorate from the A. P. Clay Theological Bible College.

Councilman Green has been honored with numerous awards and commendations through his years of service. With his wife and eternal friend, Harriet Brown Green, he is the father of 8 daughters and 6 sons, 33 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. He brings extensive knowledge and experience to the City of Westwego and Council District 1.
